Trip Details
We will have a full day of celebrating the 100 Year Anniversary of Route 66 at the Missouri History Museum.
We will receive a warm VIP greeting and enjoy reserved seating at the guest speakers lectures. At 11:00 a.m. we will enjoy a 50 minute lecture by the author of Aprons Away- Women's Work on Route 66 with Cheryl Eichar Jett. She will discuss the variety of jobs accomplished by women on the longest highway in the world – all 2448 miles of it. From Chicago to Los Angeles women pumped gas, ran for office, designed buildings and so much more.
We will also hear from Joe Sonderman as he discusses Route 66 through St. Louis. He is both an author and collector of everything Route 66. Much of his collection will be on exhibit. We will see period specific cars, neon signs, a short show of 100 years of Route 66 and an extensive collection of memorabilia from this most famous Highway – Route 66.
Lunch will be at the Museum. We will have a private area in the restaurant. Amighetti's will be serving our plated menu: Italian Salad, Chicken Parmesan over Pasta, Bread, Beverage and mini-Cheesecakes.
We will have ample time to enjoy both inside and outside exhibits of both Route 66 -100 Years and Forest Park celebrating 150 Years!
